Lessons in Courage: Egnyte’s Visit to Access Life Foundation
Sayali Godbole, Sr. Manager, HR at Egnyte
Sometimes the most powerful lessons in life come from the most unexpected places. This year, on World NGO Day, our Egnyte India team had the privilege of spending an afternoon with the incredible young warriors at Access Life Cancer Foundation in Pune. What we thought would be a day of giving back quickly turned into a day of learning, reflection, and inspiration.
Access Life Cancer Foundation is doing remarkable work by supporting children undergoing cancer treatment, and their families. Many families travel from distant towns and villages to Pune in search of medical care for their children. During such a challenging phase, Access Life becomes a home away from home, providing safe accommodation, nutritious meals, transportation to hospitals, and holistic care that supports both the children and their caregivers.
For families navigating the emotional and financial stress of long-term medical treatment, this support system makes an immeasurable difference.
But beyond the infrastructure and services, what truly stood out to us was the spirit of the children themselves.
Despite everything they’re going through, the children welcomed us with warmth, excitement, and smiles that could brighten any room. They performed joyful dance routines, shared stories, and presented us with handmade cards filled with gratitude and creativity. In those moments, it was impossible not to be moved by their courage and positivity.
Their resilience reminded us that strength doesn’t always come in loud or dramatic forms. Sometimes it appears in the quiet determination of a child who chooses to smile despite adversity. It appears in the joy they bring to each moment, even when life has given them challenges far beyond their years.
For the Egnyte team, the visit was more than a corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity; it was a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy, community, and purpose. In our busy professional lives, it’s easy to become absorbed in targets, deadlines, and deliverables. Experiences like these reconnect us with what truly matters: supporting one another and contributing to something bigger than ourselves.
Organizations like Access Life are creating real impact every single day by ensuring children battling cancer and their families receive care, dignity, and hope during difficult times. Their work goes far beyond medical support—it nurtures emotional strength, community, and a sense of belonging for families who need it most.
At Egnyte, we’re proud to support initiatives and organizations that make a meaningful difference in society. Giving back isn’t just about contribution; it’s about connection, awareness, and responsibility.
Most importantly, the children we met reminded us of something simple yet profound: Courage isn’t the absence of fear or struggle, but the ability to find joy and hope even in the hardest moments.
We walked in, hoping to bring a little happiness into their day. Instead, we walked away carrying their smiles, their strength, and a renewed sense of gratitude.
A special thanks to Richa Khalap for making this initiative possible and helping create such a meaningful experience for the entire team.
